What does this Care Assistant job involve?
Hours of Work:20-40 hrs per week, hours to suit
• Personal Care: Assisting with washing, bathing and showering. Helping with dressing and undressing. Supporting with continence care. Assisting with grooming (hair, shaving and oral care). Supporting with mobility (using hoists and walking aids etc.)
• Meal Preparation, Nutrition and Hydration: Preparing and serving meals and drinks. Supporting with feeding if needed. Monitoring dietary needs and fluid intake. Following individual care plans for allergies or preferences
• Escorts: Escorting to appointments, holidays, family visiting, social events, shopping.
• Medication Administration and Medication Support: Administering medication (with proper training). Recording medication taken and any concerns. Reporting and Documentation
• Daily Living and Domestic Support: Light housework and housekeeping (cleaning, laundry and tidying). Helping with shopping or running errands. Supporting with bills or appointment reminders. Assisting with use of technology (TV, phone, safety alarms).
• Emotional and Social Support: Offering companionship and conversation. Encouraging hobbies, interests and engagement. Supporting mental health and wellbeing and reducing social isolation. Building trusting relationships with clients and families.
• Safety and Wellbeing: Monitoring for changes in health, mood or behaviour. Reporting concerns to the appropriate team or family. Following safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns. Ensuring the environment is clean, safe and hazard-free.
• Record-Keeping and communication: Writing accurate daily notes and incident reports. Following care plans and updating the office of changes. Communicating clearly with other team members, office, families and professionals. Respecting confidentiality and data protection laws.
• Training and Development: Attending mandatory and refresher training. Keeping Knowledge up to date with best practices. Engaging in supervision and team meetings.
