Summary

As a Transport Operations Clerk, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day administrative functions of the Transport department. This position ensures the smooth coordination of transport activities and contributes to the overall efficiency of warehouse operations. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, liaising with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring compliance with company procedures and transport regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Handle all clerical tasks related to transport operations, including data entry, filing, and document management.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Assist in planning and scheduling deliveries and collections, ensuring timely and efficient transport operations.
  • Communication: Act as a point of contact between drivers, warehouse staff, and management to relay information and resolve issues.
  • Documentation: Prepare and process transport documentation such as delivery notes, manifests, and compliance paperwork.
  • System Updates: Maintain and update transport management systems (TMS) and other relevant databases with accurate and timely information.
  • Problem Solving: Respond to queries and resolve discrepancies related to transport activities, including delays, missing paperwork, or routing issues.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to changing priorities and tasks throughout the day, supporting both transport and warehouse administration as needed.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all transport activities adhere to health and safety standards and legal requirements.

Whether it’s giving drivers their paperwork, supporting with route departures, gathering Tachograph reports, debriefing drivers or generally being supportive with any challenges that arise, you’ll be an essential part of the Transport Operations Team.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office management systems
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing workloads and priorities
  • Experience with HGV drivers or within a similar transport role would be ideal however, we will consider transferable skills.
