Applications are sought for the role of Depute Head Teacher of Kirkwall Grammar School.

KGS is a modern, vibrant school of around 850 pupils with a catchment area which covers Kirkwall, the East Mainland, Orphir and the North and South Isles. The successful candidate will be part of the Senior Management Team providing leadership, vision, direction and management for the school. You should bring a successful track record of Middle or Senior Leadership with demonstrable impact on outcomes for young people.

The substantive postholder has a particular responsibility for Kirkwall Grammar School’s Learning and Teaching policy and SQA arrangements as well as line management of a group of departments. In common with the other DHTs, they will be the House Head for one of our three school houses, working closely with linked Guidance staff to oversee the pastoral care and support of young people in that house.

Our school is in housed a modern and attractive building and has a wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer. We are well-supported by our wider community.

Salary is based on Point 6 of the HT/DHT spine of the SNCT Salary Tables, plus Distant Islands Allowance.
