Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team in providing exceptional care and education within our setting.
If you hold a full and relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification, is passionate about inspiring and leading a team to deliver outstanding care and education to children and want to be part of a growing team we have a place for you at Bright Star Day Nursery.
Our 65-place nursery is currently recruiting for a Deputy Manager.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for enhancing the quality of care and education for our children This role involves supervising staff, ensuring compliance and maintaining high standards of care in accordance with regulatory requirements.
What you’ll be doing
Lead, mentor and inspire a team to deliver exceptional care and education to all children in our care.
Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead at the nursery, holding overall responsibility for the day to day running of the nursery and management of safeguarding and child protection policies - monitoring and improving practice and behaviours that underpin our high-performance safety culture.
In collaboration with the Nursery Manager, contribute to succession planning, identification and delivery of relevant training, and supporting professional development plans, including coaching and mentoring for all colleagues.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with colleagues, parents and/or carers, as well as other professionals, to meet the needs of each child.
Promote the nursery to both current parents, and potential customers, to support retention and ongoing occupancy growth.
Ensure commercial success of the nursery by maintaining expenditure inline FTEs
Engage with the Local Authority to understand the local offer, to support practice in all areas of the nursery.
Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people you are responsible for or come into contact with.

What we’re looking for
Full and Relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification
Experience within an Early Years leadership role (ideally as a Deputy Manager, Third in Charge or similar).
Experience of participating with a regulatory inspection, leading to a “Good” or “Outstanding” outcome.
Confident decision maker, with previous experience providing support and leadership to others to enable staff in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities
Strong knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, Child Protection, and the wider legislative requirements for working with children.
Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with both colleagues and parents.
Ability to use a variety of techniques to clearly and successfully communicate with both children and adults.
Oversee the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring that all children receive personalised care in line with their individual care plans.
Supervise and support staff, providing guidance on medication administration and best practices in the nursery.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations as well as organisational policies.
Foster a positive environment that promotes teamwork and high standards of service delivery among staff.
Conduct regular training sessions for staff to enhance their skills in leadership and care provision.
Liaise with families and residents to address concerns and provide updates on children progress.
Assist in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of new staff members within the company.
