The SLAM Addictions Clinical Academic Group, and South London Partnership (SLP) are collaborating to support the needs of those with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs on the six inpatient rehabilitation wards within the SLP footprint. These are:
· Barefoot Lodge, Heather Close, Westways, Tony Hillis Unit, Burntwood Villas and Phoenix.
COMHART and inpatient rehabilitation staff are working together to create a trauma-informed and anti-racist team culture with consistent ways of working that will optimise the recovery outcomes of people with mental health and substance use needs. Inpatient teams are multidisciplinary. The post holder will work under the supervision of psychology and other clinical staff funded within the service but without direct and daily supervision, and alongside established staff on the rehabilitation wards to ensure there is a full multi-disciplinary response. The post holder will also work alongside a newly commissioned peer support offer to each of the wards, recognising that to support individuals to engage in activities and make positive friendships and connections can help reduce substance use.
This is a pilot project that has been extended until March 2026. The post holder will be expected to help plan and fully engage in the evaluation process.
Usual working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm – some flexibility to work out of hours on occasion will be expected.
