We are looking to recruit dedicated support workers to join our Waking Night team.

Beaumont College is a Specialist Post 16 College, which offers special school leavers the opportunity to follow educational pathways to prepare for adulthood.

About The Role
Students are aged 16-24 and are motivated to be heard, listened to and understood in order to live their best lives. Our students thrive and commonly make progress that is beyond the expectations of parents, carers and other stakeholders.
Waking nights staff work as a team to monitor, support and respond to the needs of students and service users as residents. The existing team are an experienced, supportive team who are seeking new colleagues to join the team.

Job Responsibilities:

- To provide high quality personal care and support in accordance with the individual’s needs and preferences as stated in their care and support plan.
- Deliver support and care demonstrating dignity and respect at all times, taking individual preferences and needs into account; promote and encourage self-advocacy and independence
- Where required, undertake intimate personal care relevant to the needs as outlined in care plans and protocols
- Access training from in-house and/or external health professionals undertake delegated health care tasks which include the administration of medication and prescribed treatments
- To complete household tasks such as cleaning and laundry, including any area specific duties.
- To conduct regular night checks, observe visual and audible monitors and respond as required. Ensure accurate records are completed in a timely way
- To record and complete all relevant documents and records in relation to tasks completed and the welfare of students supported.
- To work as part of the night team, working on all areas within college. Communicating to other members of the team including the float person using agreed mobile devices
- To deliver handover to the oncoming staff and report any concerns to the duty manager on shift. To receive information from evening teams as part of the duty handover.
- To safeguard the health and wellbeing and safety of our students and to immediately report any concerns in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- To engage and complete all relevant training; use the training received to deliver high quality and safe support and care to students
- Promote and demonstrate effective communication in order to: ensure that we understand the needs of our students, families and colleagues including multi-disciplinary working and the organisation so that there are no mistakes in implementing agreed support plans and procedures.
- Ensure that the environment is safe, secure and clean in order to: make sure that the risk to students, families and colleagues is minimised. This includes knowledge of fire safety procedures, responding to the fire and burglar alarms, and where necessary liaising with the emergency services.
- To comply with and work within the policies, procedures and the codes of conduct applicable to the organisation.
- Work on own initiative within agreed boundaries and as a member of a team in order to develop good working practice and ensure that the team works well together.
- Demonstrate clear professional boundaries whilst providing a positive and capable environment which supports students to thrive and develop.
