Summary


Full time and part time positions available, with full flexibility offered on both remote working and individual working patterns across the week/weekend.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Coder to join our friendly and established clinical coding team. We are looking for candidates who have clinical coding experience across a range of specialties in an acute NHS Trust setting and who is working towards the National Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC).

The post holder requires excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work as part of a team to deliver timely and accurate coded data to meet coding deadlines. Clinical Coders support the Trust, providing reliable, accurate clinical coding for inpatient activity. This is vital in monitoring our clinical effectiveness and ensures that the hospital receives correct reimbursement for the healthcare it delivers. Clinical coding data is essential for the effective management of the Trust, and also forms the basis for clinical audit, clinical governance reporting.

To accurately extract, analyse and translate clinical information from clinical records into nationally recognised diagnosis (ICD 10) and procedure (OPCS 4) codes for admitted patient care.

Input the relevant information onto the Trust’s encoder, within agreed Trust deadlines.

Undertake the coding of inpatient spells, ensuring these are coded accurately and comprehensively.

Use the patient administration system to access radiology and pathology results to update coded information not defined at procedure or discharge. Apply knowledge of clinical terminology, anatomical and physiological terms as necessary.

Provide support to other coding team members to ensure all clinical coding monthly deadlines are met and the clinical coding service is maintained.

Use coding expertise to communicate coding rules and rationale.

Ensure own clinical coding skills are maintained and are compliant with all published updates to National Standard requirements.
