Make a Real Difference with Citizens Advice Rural Cambs

We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate Income Maximisation and Debt Adviser to join our team. This role is vital in supporting individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, helping them to increase income, manage debt, and build financial resilience.

You’ll deliver advice across multiple channels, face-to-face, phone, email, and online, ensuring clients receive the support they need to navigate complex financial challenges.

Please note: This is not a Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) funded position.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality advice on income maximisation, debt, and financial support in line with FCA and Citizens Advice standards.
• Help clients access welfare benefits, grants, and budgeting strategies.
• Support clients with Universal Credit, legacy benefits, and financial capability.
• Resolve issues with benefit agencies and creditors.
• Maintain accurate case records and manage your workload effectively.
• Contribute to research and campaigns by identifying trends and sharing insights.

Person Specification
Essential:
• Experience in advice or casework related to income, debt, and welfare benefits.
• Strong understanding of financial support systems and debt solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a workload and meet performance targets.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
Desirable:
• Certificate of Money Advice Practice or willingness to work towards accreditation.
• Experience working in community settings or with vulnerable groups.
• Familiarity with Citizens Advice systems and procedures.
