Summary
DIMENSIONS SERVICE PROVISION WITHIN- PAEDIATRIC AND SPECIAL NEEDS Number and level of staff supported Working with any number of Physiotherapists, Assistants, Technical Instructors, AHPs and the wider MDT to ensure a holistic approach to the treatment of GHA patients. Leading a small team of Physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants / TIs Day-to-Day Management and Supervisory responsibility for all Physiotherapy grades, Students, Therapy Assistants and Technical Instructors working in the same specialism. Indirectly Supervise and minimise Risk to lone practitioners in the Community. Budgetary Responsibilities- No GHA devolved budgets. Access to Physiotherapy Financial Expenditure through the use of appropriate Business case for new items of expenditure. Awareness of good Financial management and Budget constraints. Ensure staff are utilising appropriate and correct use of equipment and retrieval of same. Service provision and location of treatment: To provide a Paediatric Physiotherapy Service to Children and young people, including those transitioning to adulthood in accordance with NICE guidelines, with a focus on supporting individuals with special needs. To see patients in a wide range of community settings, appropriate to the age and condition of the child i.e. Childrens Health Centre, Hospital, Patients homes, Special and Mainstream Schools and Nurseries. Made a change Deleted adults To be the Senior Physiotherapy liaison working together with colleagues in outside Agencies E.g. Social Services, Education and private Care agencies. Client Group responsibilities: Community Services: Neurology, Musculoskeletal, Neuromuscular, Orthopaedics, Oncology, Rheumatology, Respiratory. Children with complex needs in Special Schools, nurseries. Young Adults with learning and physical Disabilities. MAIN DUTIES Provide a high quality physiotherapy service for children and young people in the local community and special schools. They will undertake advanced assessment, diagnosis and formulation of treatment plans as an autonomous practitioner. Undertake a team leader role in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the childrens physiotherapy service provided to children with neurological and developmental conditions. Provide a high quality physiotherapy service for children and young people in the community with neurological and developmental conditions, undertaking advanced assessment, diagnosis and formulation of treatment plans as an autonomous practitioner. Take a lead role in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of junior physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants and physiotherapy students. Take the physiotherapy lead within the multi-disciplinary child development team, providing specialist advice to other specialist health professionals such as paediatricians, health visitors, GPs, and social care professionals, education services as necessary, and to take a major role in liaison with Head Teachers, SENCOs, Teachers and Learning Support Assistants.
