Summary
We are looking for a caring Physiotherapy Support Worker ( assistant) to join our Physiotherapy team. The job involves helping run classes, individual sessions with patients as well as administrative and cleaning duties. You will be required to be flexible and adapt to the changing requirements of the department. The role will be based across two or three sites across Swindon. You will also be expected to work on Orthopedic weekends.
If you have had some experience dealing with patients this could be the right role for you.
• To carry out specific tasks with confidence and competence as instructed by therapists whilst demonstrating sound initiative.
• To assist the therapists where appropriate with assessment and treatment of patients and, where appropriate, with patients’ continued management including implementation and supervision of exercise regimes whilst under supervision from the therapist.
• To communicate frequently with therapists with regard to any change in patient status, behaviour, ability and response to therapeutic intervention.

• To supervise and assist in the running of classes and group work alongside the physiotherapist.
• To assist physiotherapists with supervision of patients in the hydrotherapy pool.
• To communicate effectively routine information which requires tact or persuasive skills with the patients in an effort to encourage and motivate them towards their therapeutic goals.
• To be able to assess, measure and issue appropriate walking aids and instruct patients on their safe use with knowledge gained through training and with reference to a physiotherapist
