If you are passionate and want to make a difference in the Early Years then this is the perfect job for you.
This is a fulltime post, working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. You will be working with a dedicated team and children and families from the local area.
Key Responsibilities
• To assist the manager in managing the provision of the setting ensuring that children, parents
and the staff team work together effectively to provide high quality childcare.
• To be aware of the management of day-to-day financial operations within the setting and in
conjunction with the manager meet financial targets and manage the occupancy ensuring
maximum capacity.
• To manage a staff team effectively.
• To assist in setting goals and monitor the achievement of progress against targets.
• To assist in the monitoring and assessing of the quality of provision ensuring that policies and
procedures, best practice and standards are maintained.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1 Operational Responsibilities
• To be aware of the manager’s responsibilities for the day-to-day running of the setting, ensuring
compliance with registration and legislative requirements at all times.
• To demonstrate sound knowledge of the requirements set by Ofsted ensuring that the setting
conforms to and exceeds them.
• To ensure that the setting consistently meets the requirements set out in the Early Years
Foundation Stage to a minimum good standard.
• To uphold and ensure a high standard of care throughout the setting.
• To implement and maintain the companies Equality and Inclusion policy ensuring all children,
parents and the staff team are valued, and practice is positive and non-discriminatory.
• To monitor any safeguarding issues following local authority and company procedures.
• Notify senior manager and manager of any complaints received or any situations that may be
detrimental to the company, if applicable agree actions to resolve issues and implement
accordingly.

• Prepare the setting for Ofsted inspections and action any recommendations made by the
inspector ensuring a minimum good grade is awarded.
2 Individual Accountability
• To take responsibility for the setting in the manager’s absence.
• To be aware and demonstrate a clear understanding of own role and areas of responsibility.
• Support the manager to ensure setting development plans, the quality assurance framework
(QAF) are kept up to date and all staff are aware of this through personal development plans
and 6 weekly staff meetings.
• To communicate effectively with all members of staff and be professional at all times.
• To maintain staff, child ratios at all times.
• To maintain confidentially respecting information pertaining to children, parents and staff and
disclose only on a need to know basis.
• Manage own time to complete tasks effectively, prioritising workload and delegating tasks
with the manager to team leaders and staff. Monitor and evaluate progress of delegated
tasks, providing constructive feedback.
• Identify those whose practice does not comply with organisational and legal requirements
and inform the manager and senior leadership team.
• To inform the manager and senior leadership team if you have any concerns about individual
staff practice.
• To contribute and participate in the development of new ideas.
• To keep up to date on all current childcare issues.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children, ensuring that their needs are met.
• To make recommendations for the future development and long-term vision of the setting.
• Take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of the children, ensuring that their needs are
met.
• To ensure that the setting is fully resourced with essential items to allow for full implementation
of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Health & Safety legislation.
• Take part in weekly meetings with your allocated senior leader informing of setting
developments, implementation of standards, policies and procedures, areas of concern, and
planned timetable of work.
• To be a key holder for the setting.
• To ask for advice and support.
3 Personnel
In conjunction with the manager to be responsible for staffing ensuring that appropriate ratios
of qualified to unqualified staff and children to staff are maintained.

• To be involved in the recruitment of new members of staff ensuring that all recruitment
processes comply with company policy, safer recruitment, employment legislation and Ofsted
requirements.
• Support the manager making sure all new staff members receive a formal thorough induction
during their probationary period and probation review within the stated time scale.
• Monitor and develop the performance of the staff team against the criteria set in their job
descriptions and their personal development plans (PDP).
• Maintain accurate and up to date personnel records for all employees within the setting using
the company online systems.
• Identify and deal with poor performance with agreed action plans with individual, clear
targets and goals, realistic timescales and opportunities for constructive feedback and
monitoring, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and signed.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships in the staff team, regular staff meetings,
team meetings, training sessions and open honest communication.
• Provide honest constructive feedback to support and encourage all staff.
• Support the manager to manage staff annual leave requests to ensure staffing requirements
are met using the online system and following company policy.
• Monitor staff sickness, unauthorised absence and staff turnover reporting findings and
proposals for implementation to the manager.
