Summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled 2-D CAD Technician to join the Engineering Team at Mediplan Ltd, a specialist UK manufacturer of medical trunking and nurse call systems for the healthcare sector.

This is a full-time, permanent role based at our Sheffield head office, working within a supportive and technically experienced environment. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the production of electrical schematics and mechanical layouts using AutoCAD software.

Key Responsibilities
• Produce accurate 2-D technical drawings and layout schematics using
AutoCAD, in line with internal design standards and project specifications.
• Generate schematic wiring diagrams for nurse call systems, based on
engineering inputs and client requirements.
• Create detailed mechanical approval and manufacturing drawings for medical
trunking systems used in hospital environments.
• Develop accurate bills of quantities (BOQs) for manufacturing and installation,
derived from client-approved drawings.
• Maintain organised and traceable contract files, including technical
documentation, using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Liaise effectively with clients, internal departments (sales, production, projects),
and third parties to ensure designs are technically compliant and commercially
viable.
• Apply a professional, client-facing approach at all times, representing
Mediplan’s standards and capabilities confidently.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
• Proven experience working with AutoCAD for 2D drafting in an electrical,
mechanical, or building services context.
• Formal CAD qualifications — preferably City & Guilds Level 2 or Level 3 in
Computer-Aided Design (2D Design and Drafting) or equivalent vocational
training.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and
mechanical layout diagrams.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to preparing drawing
packages for manufacturing and approval.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, for
scheduling and documentation tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in engaging
directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Salary shall be in the range of £25,000 – 30,000 per annum dependent on training and ability.
