We are recruiting a Senior Practitioner (Forensic) at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Gwent Forensic Service, St Cadoc's Hospital

Team: Community Mental Health

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £41,511 - £44,711 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

This post attracts a Market Supplement of £2,863 per annum on receipt of the AMHP Qualification, in addition to the annual salary, which will be paid in 12 monthly instalments.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Senior Practitioner post in the Gwent Forensic Team. You will be co-located with health colleagues from Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and have a good understanding of the needs of the service. You will be able to work autonomously whilst having the skills to work in a multi agency setting.

Gwent Forensic Service supports people who, as a consequence of their mental health problems, have had contact with the legal system and require a safe and secure environment such as specialist inpatient units and secure hospitals and community settings that enables them to receive a wide range of treatments, therapies and care to assist in their recovery.

This will require the postholder to work with a wide range of professionals including the Ministry of Justice, GPs, Social Services, the Police, other Local Health Boards and Third Sector organisations, to ensure positive outcomes and risk management.

If you do not hold the Approved Mental Health Professional Award you will be expected to undertake this training in order to fulfil the role.

For the role, we ask that you have:

A Diploma or Degree in Social Work or equivalent predecessor qualification.
Successful completion of the Consolidation of Practice Programme within the first three years of practice (if qualified after 1 April 2016).
Ability to undertake assessments with people experiencing mental illness.
Experience of working with people experiencing or recovering from Mental Illness.
Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to attend meetings.

We have excellent benefits including the Local Government Pension Scheme, agile working patterns and staff discount schemes.
