Summary

This role will need you to have demonstratable and extensive experience in the ability to make judgements on and to manage a complex case load as either a school nurse or health visitor. Along with your clinical knowledge this will enable the postholder to be able to provide advanced expert guidance for the service delivery and practitioners alike providing appropriate supervision, leadership and support to teams. Working within a small Complex and Vulnerable team, the Specialist HV/SN will give direction, supervision and support to the team, and therefore the right applicant will have a positive approach to compassionate leadership, be a strong communicator and be able to work collaboratively and innovatively with colleagues from within the Trust, local authority and other external stakeholders and agencies to foster a joint approach to support those babies, children, young people and their families when they are at their most vulnerable. NO AGENCIES PLEASE Job Purpose The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust define a Specialist Health Visitor/School Nurse as a qualified Specialist Health Visitor/School Nurse where the primary purpose of role is to provide guidance and support based on advanced level knowledge to patients/clients, carers and health professionals concerning a specific public health practice area. Within the sphere of specialist practice: Demonstrates significant advanced knowledge and skills within speciality and sphere of practice. Take a lead role facilitating the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of clients. Support the development of nursing practice within the specialist field and contribute to the body of nursing knowledge. Have corporate identity as an expert within specialist area. Lead and provide training and education across the organisation in relevant area of practice.
