I’m currently looking for a kind, patient, and reliable Personal Assistant (PA) to support my 14-year-old son, who is autistic. The role is primarily to provide me with some respite for 3 hours each Saturday.

The support would involve spending quality time with him, either by taking him out to local parks, for walks or scooter rides, or doing fun activities like bowling or swimming — he especially loves Mario Kart and other interactive games. Depending on the day, the support may also involve staying with him at home while I take some time out.

He’s a lovely young person with a great sense of humour and specific interests, and he thrives with people who are calm, consistent, and engaging.

There will also be the potential for additional hours during school holidays, depending on availability and how things go.

If you think you’d be a good fit or would like to know more, I’d love to hear from you.

Duties include:
- Other relevant duties as required

Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping

- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Honest and cheerful
- Must be comfortable with pets

Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
