Summary

We are recruiting a Childcare Leader at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 20 hours – 4 hours per day
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31/03/2026, Term Time Only (39 weeks)
Location: Various Locations across the Borough

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Early Years Team.

We pay an attractive salary of £14,528.04 - £15,862.51 (Level 3 - Grade 7) / £16,313,20 - £17,606.79 (Level 5 - Gradd 8) and offer access to training and development opportunities.

The Childcare Leader is a key role within our dynamic and high-quality Flying Start Childcare team!



We are on the lookout for a part-time Childcare Leader to join us. This position is a fixed-term contract of 20 hours per week, running until 31st March 2026.



We need this position filled to ensure we meet Flying Start guidance, Childcare Regulations, and the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) National Minimum Standards.



As a Childcare Leader, you will oversee the daily operations of a childcare setting and manage a team of dedicated childcare staff. While your main base will be at our Parc Y Felin setting, you may also support other Flying Start settings across the Caerphilly Borough. Key Responsibilities will include:

Team Management: Lead and inspire a team to deliver high quality childcare services.
Engagement: Foster strong relationships with parents/carers and children.
Monitoring: Track attendance and take-up rates to ensure optimal engagement.
Compliance: Ensure all legislative requirements and standards for registered childcare provision are met.
Inclusivity: Create a respectful and inclusive environment for all children.
Support: Assist children with additional and emerging needs.
Collaboration: Work seamlessly with multi-agency partners to deliver the programme.



For the role, we ask that you have:

Children’s Care Play Learning and Development (CCPLD L5) or similar relevant Level 5 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales.
Children’s Care Play Learning and Development (CCPLD L3) or similar relevant Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualification Framework for Wales.
Evidence of willingness to undertake further qualifications / continuing professional development training.
Current Paediatric First Aid certificate
Current Food Hygiene certificate.
At least 2 years post-qualification experience of working with children aged under 4 years, in a childcare provision
