Summary

Job Title: Estimator – Electrical Bias
Location: Huntingdon
Salary: Up to £70,000, dependent on experience + benefits

Overview
On behalf of a key client, we are recruiting an ambitious Electrical Estimator to join their established team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a hands-on estimating role with clear progression into management over time.

The role will suit an experienced estimator ready to take ownership of complex bids, or a motivated professional with strong estimating skills who is looking to grow into a leadership position.

The Role
The successful candidate will:

  • Review and analyse incoming enquiries, defining project scope and identifying specialist subcontract requirements.


  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical projects ranging from £250k to £5 million in value.


  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain compliant quotations that meet client specifications.


  • Develop detailed proposals and presentations, highlighting any risks, exclusions, and qualifications.


  • Coordinate with internal teams and subcontractors to manage elements not completed in-house.


  • Attend internal and client meetings to support the estimating process and project handover.


  • Maintain up-to-date estimate logs and ensure accurate project records.


  • Support the team in achieving compliance with health & safety, environmental, quality, and information security standards.


    Skills & Attributes Required

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.


    • Experience with Enterprise Estimating (© Trimble Inc. 1999–2024) is highly desirable, but training will be provided for the right candidate.


    • Strong communication, organisation, and presentation skills.


    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.


    • A collaborative, proactive approach with ambition to progress into team leadership.


    • Full UK driving licence (restrictions apply for certain offence codes).


      Qualifications & Experience

      • Minimum of three years’ estimating experience in the electrical industry.


      • Knowledge of current IEE Wiring Regulations and relevant British Standards.


      • Demonstrable experience in estimating projects up to £5 million.


        Working Arrangements
        The role is ideally office-based to work closely with the estimating team, with some scope for agile working arrangements.
