The role
Our Nursery Practitioners are responsible for providing high-quality care and education to young children within a nursery setting. This role involves creating a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment that promotes children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. You will work closely with other employees and parents/carers to ensure each child's individual needs are met.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare and Development:
Create a fun, engaging, and safe environment aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Provide direct care for children, including feeding, changing, and comforting.
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and educational programs.
Celebrate each child's progress and identify any developmental concerns.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
Support daily routines including mealtimes, nappy changing and outdoor play.
Collaborate with team members and attend planning, curriculum, and training meetings.
Environment and Safety:
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe nursery environment.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations and policies.
Conduct regular risk assessments of the nursery space and equipment.
Report any accidents or incidents promptly and accurately.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's daily activities, progress, and any concerns.
Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver cohesive care and educational programs.
Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
Administrative Tasks:
Complete daily records, including attendance, incident reports, and developmental observations.
Assist with maintaining inventory of supplies and materials.
Person Specification
Education:
Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education.
Montessori qualification or proven experience using the practice.
Experience:
Previous experience working with young children in a nursery or childcare setting.
Experience in planning and delivering early years activities.
Skills:
Excellent communication, observation and interpersonal skills.
A genuine love for working with children is essential. Willingness to undergo a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service), provide references and right to work information.
A strong understanding of safeguarding, early years development, and inclusive practice.
Additional training such as Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Allergen Awareness, or SEN knowledge is desirable.
Willingness to attend training and contribute to the ongoing success of the nursery through continuous improvement activities.
