Summary
We are seeking a professional and experienced Cleaner to join our bank staff team, supporting the high standards of hygiene and cleanliness expected within a healthcare setting. You will play a crucial role in maintaining safe, sanitary, and welcoming premises for patients, staff, and visitors. This is a bank position hours are flexible and shifts are offered to cover absence, high demand, or operational need. Applicants must be experienced and able to work independently to NHS cleaning standards. This role is not suitable for those seeking entry-level cleaning roles or training beyond mandatory induction. Main Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine and deep cleaning of all areas including patient waiting rooms, clinical rooms, staff rooms, corridors, kitchens, and toilets. Ensure all surfaces, touchpoints, and waste areas are cleaned in accordance with NHS infection prevention and control guidelines. Use colour-coded equipment and materials appropriately, and safely handle cleaning agents in line with COSHH regulations. Complete scheduled cleaning tasks efficiently and to a high standard, with minimal supervision. Accurately complete cleaning logs and documentation as evidence of completed work. Respond to urgent or unscheduled cleaning tasks such as spills or contamination. Safely remove general, sanitary, and clinical waste in accordance with practice policy. Wear appropriate PPE at all times, and follow practice health and safety protocols. Report stock shortages, equipment faults, or hazards promptly to your line manager. Maintain professionalism, discretion, and a respectful attitude at all times while on duty. Important Notes About the Role This role is for experienced cleaners only applicants must already understand NHS cleaning standards, COSHH, and the use of colour-coded systems. A brief site-specific induction and mandatory training (e.g. infection control and health & safety) will be provided, but no additional training or supervision will be offered. All cleaning supplies and PPE will be provided. Flexibility is essential shifts may be offered on short notice.
