Summary

We are looking to hire someone who will be responsible for safely recovering and transporting vehicles that are disabled, damaged, or involved in accidents. The role requires a strong understanding of vehicle recovery techniques, excellent driving skills, and the ability to provide excellent customer service. A key aspect of the job is ensuring the safety of all involved, including the driver, the public, and the recovered vehicle.

Job Description:

Responding to breakdowns and accidents:
Attending callouts to recover vehicles in various situations, from minor roadside assistance to major accidents.

Vehicle assessment and recovery:
Assessing the situation, determining the best recovery method, and safely loading the vehicle onto the recovery truck.

Vehicle transportation:
Transporting the recovered vehicle to the designated location, such as a garage, repair shop, or storage facility.

Customer service:
Providing clear communication and reassurance to customers, explaining the recovery process, and ensuring their satisfaction.

Paperwork and documentation:
Completing necessary paperwork accurately and thoroughly, including job details and vehicle information.

Vehicle maintenance:
Performing basic vehicle checks and maintenance tasks on the recovery truck and reporting any issues.

Adhering to regulations:
Ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

Person Specification:

Licence requirements:
A valid driving licence (category C or C+E for larger vehicles) and a clean driving record are essential.

Experience:
Previous experience in vehicle recovery, including the use of specialist equipment, is highly desirable.

Physical fitness:
The job can involve manual handling and working in various weather conditions, so physical fitness is important.

Mechanical knowledge:
Basic mechanical knowledge of vehicles is helpful for understanding potential issues and assessing damage.

Communication skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are needed to interact with customers and other team members.

Problem-solving skills:
The ability to assess situations quickly and make sound decisions under pressure is crucial.

Customer service skills:
