Summary
The role of the Information Manager is to manage the IM team, working with various information management tools (including SharePoint and Office 365 products) across classifications and systems to conduct information management and exploitation activities.
As an Information Manager you will:
Work to the HEO Information Manager to ensure that the three core principles of information security (confidentiality, availability and integrity) are adhered to by the IM team and wider unit.
Work with the Information Management professionals in the unit to actively promote the use of effective IM practices, enforcing policy and ensuring that personnel understand the importance of effective information management and comply with the Operational Record Keeping (ORK) requirements.
Develop and maintain SharePoint sites and other information sharing platforms ensuring compliance with both the need-to-know and need-to-share principles.
Conduct rigorous access control management utilising Active Directory and other software, liaising with information owners and complying with all access control policies. Conduct regular permission reviews to ensure information assurance compliance and retain a full change history for audit purposes.
Comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practice to ensure a consistent, standardised approach to information management throughout the unit.
Work with personnel to ensure information is created, captured, stored, distributed, utilised, retained and disposed of in the correct manner.
Work with personnel across the unit to capture user requirements in order to develop information management ways of working and enhance information exploitation activities.
Enforce compliance with MoD directives, policy and legislative requirements.
Raise any identified risks to the HEO Information Manager in order to inform the Senior Information Officer (SIO) to mitigate and elevate as appropriate.
Participate in knowledge sharing forums, deliver training sessions and briefs to users of varied skill levels in order to upskill the workforce, raise awareness of information management ways of working, and increase compliance requirements awareness.
Maintain the unit IM plan and write policy detailing new ways of working for the unit.
Champion a change culture for information management to improve existing ways of working and embrace new technologies being delivered.
Work with HEO Information Manager to ensure new technologies are secured and used correctly in line with policy and direction.
Line management of 1 x Civilian Information Support Assistant.
