Summary

LOCUM CONSULTANT NEONATOLOGIST This post is a locum post for a period of 6 Months 1. BACKGROUND This is an 8PA locum appointment for a Consultant Neonatologist. This post will deliver 8PAs supporting the Neonates team. The post will be based at Leeds General Infirmary and St Jamess Hospital. In relation to this post, the Leeds Centre for Newborn Care was created in 1998 with the merger of the two acute trusts. The service comprises one level 3 unit (NICU) at LGI and a combined low dependency comprising SCBU and Transitional Care at SJUH, each attached to a busy delivery suite. The neonatal service is one of the busiest in the country with 1700 admissions per year, providing 4000 intensive care days and a further 4200 high dependency care days per year. There are approximately 10,000 deliveries across the two sites. 2. OBJECTIVES OF THE POST 2.1 To deliver care to patients under neonatal services at the Leeds General infirmary and St. Jamess Hospital. Out-patient clinics Supervision of supervision of neonatal care on the NICU, postnatal and transitional care wards Care of in-patients, providing weekday consultant cover and weeknight on call (1 in 6 alternating site) to the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Leeds General Infirmary and the Local Neonatal Unit at St Jamess Hospital Contribute to Specialist Multi-disciplinary team meetings 2.2 To link with Consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams within the Childrens Hospital and across the Trust. Particularly, with Surgical, Maternity and Community teams. 2.3 To work with colleagues in Neonates to deliver acute on call weeknight on call (1 in 6 alternating site) This includes both out-of-hours cover in addition to acute ward rounds during normal working hours. 2.4 To contribute to research, teaching, and new developments within Neonatal Sevices. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current clinical research programs on going in the department.
