The Opportunity

Are you a recent Science graduate looking to take your first step into education? A highly regarded secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a passionate and driven Graduate Science Teaching Assistant to join their team in September 2025.

This is a full-time, term-time only role that offers a fantastic stepping stone for aspiring teachers looking to begin formal training in 2026 or beyond. You’ll gain vital classroom experience supporting Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, your duties will include:

• Supporting teachers in delivering engaging Biology, Chemistry, and Physics lessons
• Providing targeted 1:1 and small group academic support
• Assisting with practical experiments and the management of Science equipment
• Aiding in classroom behaviour and organisation
• Promoting student enthusiasm and interest in Science
• Getting involved in extracurricular Science activities such as STEM clubs

Graduate Science Teaching Assistant - Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking ambitious Science graduates who meet the following criteria:

• A minimum 2:1 degree in a Science-related subject (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Sciences, Engineering)
• A genuine passion for Science and education
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, can-do attitude with a supportive approach to learning
• A real desire to work with young people and pursue a career in teaching
• Experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is beneficial but not essential
