The Opportunity

Are you a graduate eager to gain hands-on classroom experience before pursuing a career in education? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Coventry is seeking a motivated Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This full-time, term-time only role is perfect for aspiring primary teachers preparing to apply for teacher training in 2026 or beyond. As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, you’ll support pupils across Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2), working alongside experienced educators to help children thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, your role will include:

• Supporting class teachers in delivering engaging, interactive lessons across the curriculum
• Providing one-to-one and small group support in key subjects including Maths, English, and Phonics
• Helping with behaviour management and creating a positive, inclusive learning environment
• Working closely with pupils who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) or require additional academic or emotional support
• Encouraging pupil independence, confidence, and enthusiasm for learning
• Participating in school trips, extracurricular clubs, and wider school activities

Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant - Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for enthusiastic and committed graduates who meet the following criteria:

• Minimum 2:2 degree in any subject (Education, Psychology, English, or related fields are a bonus)
• A genuine passion for working with children and helping them succeed
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, caring, and enthusiastic approach to supporting learning
• Previous experience working with children (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, summer camps, youth work) – highly desirable
• A clear ambition to progress into primary teaching or a related education career
