Summary

Are you looking for a laboratory technician role, with a supportive team working on an exciting project working with young people to inspire them to live healthier lives?

We are advertising for a technician to support the delivery of the LifeLab programme.

LifeLab is a hospital-based classroom providing innovative and inspiring activities to encourage teenagers to make informed choices about their health-related behaviour, as well as generating an interest in science and health as future study or career options. The role involves supporting the delivery of the laboratory-based health and science education activities at the LifeLab laboratory facility – arranging booking of coaches, ensuring consumables/activities are prepared and set up for school days, supporting the delivery of teaching activities during LifeLab school days. This position would suit a candidate who has an interest in biology and health education.

The post holder will be expected to work as part of a small, friendly team, good team working skills are essential and a commitment to the University’s ideas of collegiality. Training for specific laboratory tasks will be provided, after which they will be expected to operate with minimal supervision.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

This post is offered on a 0.4FTE part-time (Thursday and Friday); fixed term basis until 30th November 2027. Interviews will be held week commencing 15th September 2025
