About the Opportunity
We’re working with a highly respected engineering and manufacturing organisation at the forefront of the defence industry. They specialise in delivering complex, large-scale engineering solutions and are renowned for their innovation, precision, and operational excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to join their senior leadership team and take ownership of a critical submarine assembly programme.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the Integrated Assembly Programme Team (IPT) to deliver submarine assembly programmes on time, within budget, and to exacting quality standards.
• Ensure all work adheres to health, safety, and quality processes and procedures.
• Drive programme delivery to achieve revenue and cash targets.
• Manage programme risks while identifying and capitalising on opportunities.
• Coordinate operational updates, stakeholder engagement, and programme reporting.
• Champion transformation projects to improve processes and achieve best-in-class performance.
• Implement effective visual management and operational reporting systems.
• Support the creation, delivery, and sustainment of world-class assembly facilities.
• Develop and mentor cell leaders to support wider team growth and capability.
What You’ll Need
• Apprentice-trained / HNC qualification (minimum) or equivalent experience Degree preferred.
• Significant operational leadership experience, ideally within the defence sector and involving large, complex engineering projects.
• Proven ability to manage daily operations to meet demanding capability requirements.
• Track record of successfully implementing and sustaining change management initiatives.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Confident communicator with experience engaging senior stakeholders.
• Resilience and the ability to motivate multiple teams through challenging programmes.
