Summary


A vacancy has arisen for a Band 6 Rehabilitation Engineer, working with the Wheelchair Service based at Queen Mary's Hospital in Roehampton. The servicecover aspects of the provision of posture and wheeled mobility equipment and special seating to meet the complex needs of people with disabilities, living across 5 boroughs in SW London.

The post holder will assess people with disabilities, both in a multidisciplinary team and independently, providing technical expertise and prescription to ensure the provision of manual and powered wheelchairs, special seating and associated equipment. They will also be required to develop their knowledge of the manufacturing process, along with practical skills in order to design and manufacture seating systems and modifications. Clients may have complex mobility and postural needs, requiring technically challenging solutions, and a key role of the RE is to provide technical expertise to other wheelchair service colleagues in the review, adaptation, modification, prescription and delivery of both standard and bespoke equipment. There is a requirement for significant travel as the majority of the clinical work is carried out in client’s homes, and other clinical sites, throughout South West London. Applicant must hold a full UK drivers licence and will be required to use their own car for visits.
