We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join the Clinical Psychology team working with people with intellectual disabilities. The post is within our busy, multidisciplinary Community Intellectual Disability Teams. We have central bases at Highbury Hospital and Therapy and Treatment Centre Mansfield and team bases across the county. You may be asked to work across the county, and you will be renumerated as per the Trust's travel policy.

Assistant Psychologists are held in high regard in our service, and we would support you to develop skills and competencies relevant to a career in psychology. We have close links with the Trent Doctorate Course and routinely offer trainee placements.

The post will support clinical psychologists to screen and assess referrals, complete assessments and interventions with a range of clients, staff and carers in the community. It requires liaison with formal and informal carers and working with multi-disciplinary colleagues. There may also be opportunities to contribute to audit or service evaluation.

You must have already obtained a UK university honours degree in psychology graded at 2:1 or 1st or an equivalent qualification conferring the BPS approved graduate basis for Chartered Membership.

To support and carry out a range of psychometric and other assessments with people who have an intellectual or developmental disability (e.g. autism). These may include interviews, questionnaires, and intellectual and executive skills assessments.

To support and carry out defined therapeutic interventions with people with intellectual disabilities.

To support interventions with staff teams, such as consultancy, training, identifying resources, multi-disciplinary working, signposting staff to appropriate services and service promotion.

To support data collection and analysis, for both clinical and service evaluation, as required. This may include collecting and reviewing a variety of data such as psychometric scores, interview data, historical information, literature searches. It may also involve data analysis and report writing under supervision.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
