Summary

1 Purpose of Job To develop and provide a professional and confidential counselling service for students in order to support them in achieving their learning goals and to ensure the service is available to all learners. 2 Principle Accountabilities 2.1 Provide a professional and confidential personal counselling service for all students. 2.2 Support vulnerable individuals with appropriate strategies that will assist them to achieve individual learning plan targets, goals and qualification aims. 2.3 Raise awareness of the counselling service available to all students. 2.4 Identify and work with an internal and external network of specialist support that will be needed to help individuals. 2.5 Work closely with tutors and relevant support staff to provide advice and guidance on handling sensitive student related issues and support. 2.6 Work within the BACP Code of Ethics and undertake external professional supervision in accordance with arrangements agreed with the College. 2.7 Maintain and update appropriate service information 2.8 Ensure monthly statistics are maintained and ALS support is claimed 2.9 Contribute to the improvement and development of counselling provision with the College. 2.10 Comply with college policies, procedures and quality assurance systems. 2.11 Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with grade as may be assigned by the line manager.
