Summary

Third in Charge | Up to £30,000 per annum | 40 hours per week

Our client, a welcoming and inclusive nursery setting, is looking for a qualified Third in Charge to support the leadership team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality early years education and care. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for a confident and capable Early Years Educator looking to take the next step in their career within a warm and collaborative environment.

As Third in Charge, the successful candidate will play a key role in both the day-to-day running of the setting and in supporting staff to provide a safe, stimulating, and nurturing space where every child can thrive.

What We’re Looking For

  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of the EYFS and child development principles.
  • Experience in a senior role within a nursery or early years setting e.g. Room Leader, Third In Charge
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and support others.
  • A caring, professional and inclusive approach to early years practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in the smooth running of the nursery.
  • Lead the nursery in their absence and ensure all operational and safeguarding responsibilities are met.
  • Deliver creative, age-appropriate activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Monitor and promote children’s holistic development across all learning areas.
  • Contribute to staff supervision, coaching and the professional development of junior team members.
  • Support with rota management, planning sessions and parent engagement.
  • Maintain accurate observations and assessments, and communicate effectively with parents and carers.
  • Promote inclusive practice and positive relationships with children, colleagues and families.
  • Uphold high standards of care, safeguarding and health & safety at all times.
  • Encourage healthy routines and create a safe, clean, and inspiring environment.
