Summary

Stop Smoking Advisor West Suffolk
£24,154.72 to £25,867.77
37 hours per week – Temporary Post for up to 18-months
Working hours are flexible but must meet the demand of clients’ needs and include events
Covering Brandon, Mildenhall and Newmarket
There will also be the opportunity to support and deliver events across Suffolk.

Feel Good Suffolk is an exciting collaboration across Suffolk with the aim of empowering clients to take control of their health and wellbeing with health improvement changes such as weight management, increasing physical activity levels, and stopping smoking.

With the exciting news of national investment to create a Smoke Free Generation (SFG), we’re looking to appoint two Stop Smoking Advisor’s to work with residents across West Suffolk to drive this change.

Key Responsibilities:
• Receive and process referrals
• Undertake initial triages
• Plan and facilitate interventions
• Supporting the local communities by provide stop smoking support to adults by telephone, video call and face to face in community venues on a one-to-one and group basis.
• Supporting Suffolk wide events e.g. Suffolk Show and Health and Wellbeing events.
• Maintain own workload and schedule.

Requirements:
• A strong understanding of health behaviours and experience of working with people to make positive changes to their lifestyle.
• Experience of working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds with differing levels of needs and balancing casework.
• Good organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure to tight timescales over a period of time
• Strong communication skills
• Active listening skills.
• Knowledge of local areas and communities, specifically Newmarket, Mildenhall and Brandon.

Qualifications:
• A DBS enhanced disclosure will be required for this post.
• NCSCT certified stop smoking practitioner qualification
• additional enhanced NCSCT qualifications welcome
• Health or Community related qualification
• Health Coaching Qualifications
