Derby Parkinson's team is an accredited Parkinson's Foundation Centre of Excellence providing holistic, integrated, multidisciplinary care for people with Parkinson's.
Due to retirement of the previous postholder, we are seeking aBand 7 Specialist Physiotherapist to lead the Physiotherapy team and to work as an integral part of this established and successful multidisciplinary service.
The Parkinson's team,based at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, within the Specialist Rehabilitation department,includes consultants, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech & language therapists, clinical neuropsychologists, dietitian and technical instructors.
The team are forward thinking, anddeliver evidence-based interventions to enable people to manage their condition, believing that continuous development is essential to maintaining our standards.
In addition to clinical work, the team are actively engaged in research, for both medical and therapy interventions and run national courses in multidisciplinary management of Parkinson's and Atypical Parkinson's.
• To be part of the Parkinson's disease multi disciplinary team within the Trust, working flexibly to provide a Physiotherapy service to patients with Parkinson's disease
• To collaborate with all members of the Parkinson’s MDT in order to meet National and Trust organisational targets and standards
• To provide highly specialist Physiotherapy assessment and rehabilitation for patients with Parkinson’s disease
• To provide highly specialist advice and support to other professionals regarding the management of Parkinson’s patients throughout the Trust and Derbyshire/ East Staffordshire Community
• To be an integral part of the senior clinical team within the speciality and to represent Specialist Rehabilitation at management level concerning issues affecting the service
• To take a lead role in the operational management of the Physiotherapy team within this speciality
• To provide supervision and teaching for Physiotherapists, students
and assistants working within the speciality
• To ensure that the Derby Parkinson's service is engaged in relevant research projects/ clinical trials and implement and evaluate new and innovative clinically effective treatment techniques in order to maintain Derby as a centre of excellence for Parkinson's Disease
• To lead and participate in the running of external courses for multidisciplinary professionals involved in the assessment and management of patients with Parkinson's Disease
