Summary
In the flexible non-acute weeks there will be a requirement to cover for colleagues leave, as well as deliver elective activity. Some of these sessions are flexible and will be delivered through the regular unit planning meeting. Within the job plan there are sessions to develop elective practice in line with the interests of the post holder, alongside the sub-specialties within the department. A precise timetable of activity is dependent on the number of participating Consultants to ensure an equal division of work across the unit There will be an expectation that the consultant team will supervise and train StRs and Core Trainees in emergency and trauma surgery. There will be a weekly operating list and access to the 24 hour NCEPOD theatre for emergencies. There are weekly opportunities to backfill elective lists to support the RTT agenda and subspecialty interests. There is an afternoon board round of all inpatients on EGSU and Trauma wards to review investigations and revise management plans to expedite ongoing care.
