Summary

As part of the paediatric respiratory service, we use a multidisciplinary approach to manage childhood respiratory conditions. Our expanding team supports professional development and career progression. We deliver diagnostic and therapeutic services for respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders through a variety of assessments, including cardiorespiratory and polysomnography sleep studies, multiple sleep latency tests (MSLTs), actigraphy, oximetry, NIV-led physiologist clinics, and sleep consultations.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate within a diverse multidisciplinary team comprising doctors, clinical nurse specialists, ward nurses, dieticians, psychologists, and scientists. Successful applicants will have proven experience in paediatric sleep physiology, demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, contribute to service delivery and development, and actively engage in ongoing research initiatives.

This role involves conducting inpatient sleep studies at Royal London Children’s Hospital, including CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen titration procedures, as well as assisting with study setups and supporting Band 3 Paediatric Healthcare Nursing Assistants.

Our comprehensive service offers full diagnostic and treatment options for children with sleep disorders. We also care for children on non-invasive ventilation (NIV) such as CPAP and BiPAP, including those who require full ventilation support via tracheostomy.

This role provides a secure opportunity to employ and develop a solid understanding of Sleep physiology whilst learning the necessary skills required to becoming a key and valued member of the team. A willingness to learn and progress through our service will prove critical to any successful applicant.

The band 6 post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team towards the diagnosis and treatment of paediatric respiratory and sleep disorders and contribute to and maintain excellent standards of patient care and clinical practice.
