Do you excel in varied and evolving environments, keeping things running smoothly when the pressure is on? Are you the kind of person who thrives on juggling multiple priorities while ensuring nothing slips through the cracks? If so, Harrogate Town Council has the perfect role for you.
Much more than paperwork – this role is about people, purpose, and pride in Harrogate. You’ll be at the heart of our operations, supporting the Town Clerk and Councillors. No two days are the same – whether preparing council meetings, managing diaries, assisting civic events, coordinating allotments or planning application administration, your adaptability will be key. You will take ownership of the council’s digital presence, manage basic bookkeeping and purchase orders - your ability to bring structure and order will be invaluable as we grow our operations and services to the community.
As a calm and confident presence, you will be the first point of contact for all public enquiries to Harrogate Town Council. Some evening and weekend working will be required to support meetings and events.
Why this role is made for you:
You have strong experience working in busy office environments and understand the importance of responsive customer service. You appreciate that there may be unplanned changes or events and are able to act accordingly, always ensuring that the Council can deliver its services effectively.
✔ You’re a self-starter who thrives on juggling multiple priorities without losing sight of the details
✔ Calm and composed under pressure, you keep operations running smoothly when it matters most
✔ Personable and professional, you're at ease dealing with the public, delivering outstanding service whilst dealing with difficult queries respectfully
✔ You embrace technology, using digital tools to streamline processes and support the Council’s objectives
✔ Adaptable and flexible, you respond positively to change and new challenges
