WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
About this opportunity
This role supports the Commercial Banking Financial Control team in Group Finance Support responsible for the financial control activity, reconciliation and basis of substantiation of data on a monthly basis.
You'll join us in Group Finance Support (GFS), a team of c600 colleagues within the Finance Division, providing centralised support and expertise to the rest of Finance and the Business.

Day to day you'll:

Undertake daily and month end financial control activity including reconciliations, preparation of journals and basis of substantiation.

Take ownership of control issues or balance sheet breaks, ensuring that these are owned and remediating action plans are in place.

Support inbound change activity, ensuring that finance processes are adapted to support business change.

Collaborate closely with a large number of internal teams including stakeholders in other GFS teams. In addition, there will be extensive liaison with Divisional Business and Operations teams, Finance Platform colleagues and external auditors.

Supervise, support and coach junior colleagues in their operational tasks and wider development

Work with Finance Platform, and other Change teams to ensure that Financial Control matters are considered in Transformation, including managing the ongoing change impact on source system reconciliations.

Develop personal capabilities using existing formal and informal training opportunities.

Proactively identifying improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures, including the running of debrief meetings and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Oversight of PRISM (Commercial Banking MI tool) for Financial Control team

What you'll need:

A professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with experience of either financial control, or statutory reporting.

Ideally, you'll have experience of Power Automate and Query.

Process and Controls expertise with a passion for financial control and questioning mentality.

Strong background of delivery and driving continuous improvement against a constantly evolving landscape.

Bring a problem-solving approach with excellent analytical and investigative skills.

Works collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, utilising well-developed relationship skills.

Good communicator, excellent organisational ability and able to operate independently or as part of a team.
