Wakefield Council is seeking an exceptional individual to join us as Head of Financial Management. This is a pivotal role, acting as Deputy Section 151 Officer, supporting the Chief Finance Officer in delivering robust financial leadership across the Council.



About the Role



You will lead the delivery of high-quality corporate financial management services, including:



Financial and management accounting
Strategic financial planning
Treasury and capital management
Financial systems and controls
Statutory reporting and audit liaison


What We’re Looking For



We’re looking for a CCAB-qualified accountant with:



Significant senior-level experience in financial management within a large, complex organisation
Strong leadership and people management skills
A deep understanding of local government finance
The ability to influence, negotiate and build strong partnerships across the organisation and beyond
