Summary

To enable digital transformation at scale across Home Office, we must empower our staff outside of DDaT to create appropriate solutions. With its focus on low-code development, the democratisation of Microsoft Power Platform will enable large numbers of ‘Business Makers’ to truly evolve the way we work and make best use of automation and AI to increase efficiency. To support those Business Makers on their digital journey, we need to grow the central Power Platform Team in CTO’s Automation Centre.

The Associate Power Platform Developer plays an exciting part in our enablement programme. You will be paired with an engineering colleague to learn on the job whilst designing, building, and improving software components. You can expect to benefit from training, coaching and mentoring to help you develop in this role.

You and your team will develop core components both for the team and the wider Power Platform community across Home Office, selecting appropriate technologies. You will work to our technical standards, ensuring the code is open as far as possible and can be re-used.

We make maximum use of low-code technology in this team but use code where necessary to build robust, efficient, and secure solutions:

  • Code: C#, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell
  • Low-code: Power platform (including Power BI) and Dynamics
  • Data: Dataverse, SQL Server, Mongodb, Cosmos DB
  • DevOps: Azure DevOps, Terraform

What you will do

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

  • Completing basic development/test tasks on your own initiative, and more advanced tasks under the supervision of others.
  • Proposing solutions that fit within the overall models and patterns set by more senior developers.
  • Identifying and resolving issues with one of our systems, using established methods supporting the definition and delivery of new services.
  • Learning more advanced software development and delivery skills to advance as an engineer.

Like many organisations we need to maintain our services 24/7, therefore, on occasions there may be a requirement to work out of hours, for which you will be paid an additional allowance.
