The Chief Operating Officer Group works closely with the Home Office’s policy and operational commands to enable us together to deliver the department’s priorities. The directorate is comprised of different teams and professional functions, including Commercial, Finance, People, Portfolio and Project Delivery, Security, Estates and Information and Digital, Data and Technology.

We are seeking diligent individuals to work at SEO level to provide critical activities to support the delivery of Commercial’s objectives. These roles could be of interest to commercial professionals with procurement experience and expertise or contract managers who are looking to broaden their commercial skills in a central commercial function or to existing commercial staff who would enjoy taking on a new role.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Supervision & Commercial Support

Support the Commercial Lead in enhancing contract performance and cost efficiency. Manage high-profile commercial agreements aligned with CSG’s strategic goals and government best practices. Assist operational teams with daily contract monitoring, identifying efficiencies, and implementing variations. Contribute to developing contract management frameworks and tools. Maintain auditable performance data and produce reports for stakeholders. Analyse complex data to inform decisions. Support procurement by advising on service requirements and contract management based on existing arrangements. Ensure milestone delivery and appropriate fund release. Provide commercial advice and interface with legal teams, supporting compliance with procurement regulations. Promote best practices and help identify commercial dependencies.

Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Planning

Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with Commercial Leads to develop strategic plans and build commercial capability. Identify portfolio alignments for greater efficiency.

Commercial Guidance & Risk Management

Offer guidance on procurement law and policy. Manage commercial risks and savings, and capture lessons learned to improve processes.

Mentoring & Analysis

Support peer development and, where required, manage staff. Provide analytical insights to add value across the procurement lifecycle.

Working Pattern

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours are available.

Allowance

For this role CIPS allowance may be payable.
