Summary

Data Services and Analytics (DSA) is the part of DDaT which leads the build of data products to integrate data from multiple sources, and then deliver products for business intelligence, reporting and data science.  DSA has the ambition to be one of the leading providers of insight services in UK Government and is currently growing significantly with over 300 colleagues, providing services to variety of functions within the Home Office. 

In this role, you will identify and deliver new data sources and develop ETL processes, collaborate with the Data Acquisition, Analytics and Infrastructure teams to deliver the data strategy through the design and implementation of technology systems.

The successful candidate will either be located in 2 Ruskin Square – Croydon, Soapworks - Manchester, Vulcan House - Sheffield, regional office. Under Home Office hybrid working practices there is an expectation that you will attend the office for a minimum of 60% of your working hours. 


Lead Data Analysts need to have a genuine passion for analytics, an innovative mindset and need to question current methods of delivery to enhance our processes and to offer a different perspective.

As a Lead Data Analyst, you will lead on the exploration and exploitation of a range of complex data sets, analytical tools and techniques to support a range of stakeholders across Home Office. You will ensure that a wide set of innovative opportunities are explored; evaluating options, impacts, risks and solutions to provide clear problem definitions and inspiring full exploitation of new data and technology.

You will build and manage a network of colleagues and contacts to achieve progress on shared objectives.

You will be a thought leader within the Data Analysis community and manage the development of junior staff.

What you will do

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

As a lead Data Analyst, you will showcase a true passion for data and exhibit expertise in the following areas:  

  • Leading teams to create data analysis products which are proportionate to the business benefit and achieve significant impact.
  • Expanding the boundaries of what can be achieved using data, predicting.
  • Patterns of behaviour and understanding emerging trends and areas of innovation both in government and industry.
  • Supporting the Principal Data Analyst on the management of workload and teams and inputting into the strategy for Data Analysis.
  • Leading in identifying, collecting and migrating complex data and business questions to/from a range of systems.
  • Developing knowledge of cutting-edge techniques and sharing knowledge of Data Analysis across the organisation.
  • Presenting the results of data analysis to a range of senior customers, making recommendations.
