Summary

A Vacancy at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.


The primary role of the group programme instructor is to facilitate and deliver therapy groups supporting intensive rehabilitation for those following stroke and neurological illness or injury in the inpatient rehabilitation setting. This will include manning the open gym, supporting inpatients to undertake supervised or independent practice.

Groups may include functional activities (such as breakfast group); exercise groups such as cardiovascular fitness, balance, upper limb rehabilitation; or social/activity groups.

The senior therapy assistant will work under the supervision of qualified Therapists contributing to assessment and treatment programmes within an episode of care. The post holder will assist in the administration and clerical duties for the team and Department. The post holder may be required to work at any of the sites across the stroke pathway and is required to contribute to weekend working.

In this role, you will lead the delivery of our group programme for the inpatient stroke and neuro rehabilitation unit at the Rowan Rehab Unit in Sherborne, supported by qualified therapists.

This will including exercise groups, communication and functional groups.

You will also support patients to work on their rehabilitation in the therapy gym, as well as carrying out a range of therapy assistant activities as required by the multidisciplinary team.
