The role would be working as part of a team within Hillsboro House, we are a children's residential service that provides care and support for one child/young person at a time. We are a one bedroom occupancy, this is due to the young person's complex needs and that they cannot be placed alongside other young people at that time.

Hillsboro House is a crisis home, it can be used as a short to medium-term bridging placement, supporting the individual to progress and having a successful transitioning towards a stable long-term placement. Hillsboro is a service that can become dormant when a child transitions out and preparation is being completed for another young person to move in, staff will be expected to support other children's services while this process is taking place.

Hillsboro House seeks to offer opportunity for pause for each individual, building a trusting relationship to understand their needs better, we support each young person to grow and enable them to transition into a service that best suits their needs and to promote positive change and development. Our focus is to provide a therapeutic environment to stabilise their challenging behaviour, work on improving any risk-taking behaviours, re-connect them to education and any other difficulties that they may be struggling with.

As a children's residential worker, this is an excellent opportunity to start this career path, while working within the setting you will be supported to complete the All Wales Induction Framework as part of your induction, this will then be followed by registration through BCBC to gain your level 3 QCF in health and social care with children and young people, as listed in the Qualification framework for the Social Care Sector in Wales. Once your probation period is complete you will need to register with Social Care Wales ensuring a successful completion of your induction framework.
