Summary

Social Work Support Officer
Job description
18.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to develop a career in Social Care administration. We currently have a vacancy for a part time Social Work Support Officer, working within Children's Social Care services in Bridgend supporting one of our Social Care Teams. This job share post will be required to work 18.5 hours per week and the working pattern will be:

- Week One - Monday and Tuesday (full days)

- Week Two - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (full days)

You would provide a range of administrative support functions working closely with Social Workers within Children's Services. You will assist Social Workers to manage their caseloads, with the aim to reduce office based Social Worker administration time.

As a Social Work Support Officer, you will assist a small team of Social Workers on a daily basis. Your role will be to proactively assist the Social Workers to manage their caseloads, whilst the Social Workers retain overall responsibility. You will work with the Social Worker and in line with agreed departmental standards and procedures, aiming to relieve the Social Worker of some basic admin tasks.

You will be confident and pro-active, not afraid to use your initiative, with excellent organisation and communication skills. In addition, the role also requires good analytical skills, self-motivation and good multi-tasking skills.

Duties will include organising and co-ordinating diaries, communicating with clients and professionals (verbally and in writing), proactively arranging and supporting sensitive meetings, recording information on client records, updating chronologies, track and monitor caseload information and extracting information from various sources.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post. This provides a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.
