Summary
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing? We have some brand-new roles for the Coventry and Warwickshire Mental Health in Schools Teams (MHST).
MHSTs are an early intervention and prevention service that support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children, young people and families who are linked to schools and colleges settings. We are growing rapidly and are in a time of development and expansion as we are expected to support 100% of schools by 2029/30.

The post holder will work as a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse within a multidisciplinary Mental Health Support Team (MHST), delivering timely, evidence-based mental health care to children, young people, and their families across educational and community settings.
As a senior clinician, the post holder will take a lead role in triage and initial assessment, including risk assessment and formulation. They will offer responsive, outcome-focused support, including the delivery of Single Session Therapy (SST) and other brief interventions in line with the THRIVE Framework and local care pathways.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, they will manage a defined caseload, contribute to the planning and coordination of care, and liaise effectively with education staff, families, and wider services to ensure safe, integrated support. The role requires confident clinical decision-making and the ability to deliver short-term, impactful interventions that promote early access and prevent escalation.
The Band 6 nurse will also provide supervision, guidance, and informal support to junior staff and trainees, contributing to service development, audit, and quality improvement. They may also support delivery of the Whole School Approach (WSA) by engaging in mental health promotion, psychoeducation, and collaborative initiatives within schools.
