An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Veterinary Nurse to join a highly respected, independent small animal practice in South West London, proudly serving the communities of Battersea, Clapham, and Wandsworth for over 30 years.
About the Practice
This RCVS-accredited, small animal practice is known for its state-of-the-art facilities, compassionate ethos, and a team of dedicated professionals with over 50 years of combined experience. Their focus on clinical excellence and personal care has earned them a loyal and appreciative client base.
The Role
As Head Nurse, you will play a vital role in both the clinical and operational success of the practice. You'll lead a tight-knit team of 2 RVNs, 1 SVN, and 1 VCA, providing inspiration, guidance, and support every step of the way.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Providing clinical leadership to the nursing team
• Overseeing in-house training and supporting ongoing CPD
• Managing stock and inventory systems
• Delivering high-quality nurse consults, inpatient care, anaesthesia, and client communication
• Supporting vets in consultations and procedures
• Collaborating with the Practice Manager and Clinical Director
• Managing the nurse rota and team wellbeing
• Hosting regular team meetings and check-ins
Hours & Rota
• Full-time, permanent role – 5 days per week
• 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9am–1pm)
• No OOH or on-call – enjoy a healthy work-life balance
You will have
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills
• Excellent clinical knowledge and patient care standards
• A team-first approach with the ability to inspire and guide others
• Prior Head Nurse experience is desirable but experienced RVNs looking to step up are strongly encouraged to apply
