Primary Purpose of the Role:
The Senior Contracts Manager is responsible for supporting the aims and objectives of the L&C function. Working on his/her own initiative, the role holder will oversee the contractual affairs of designated areas within the business.
The role holder will lead and/or carry out the following activities whilst keeping Head of Contracts/Contracts Director appropriately briefed:
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners, and effectively engage internal stakeholders throughout bid approvals and project delivery.
Lead the preparation of high-quality proposals for large and complex bids, including internal approval documentation and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Support and lead negotiations on contracts and amendments, review customer contractual documents (NDAs, Teaming Agreements, TAAs, etc.), and assist with subcontract negotiations when required.
Identify potential liabilities, risks, issues, and disputes with customers, suppliers, and partners, while ensuring compliance with terms and conditions and supporting supply chain gap analysis.
Contribute to the development and implementation of negotiation strategies, including payment profiles and terms aligned with business cash flow requirements.
Act as a role model to team members through constructive behaviours, providing commercial guidance and interpreting contractual requirements for the wider project team.
Principal Relationships:
Internal: Head of Contracts/wider L&C Team, Contracts Director, Sales & Bid Management, Project & Programme Management, Operations, Engineering, Finance/Bid Finance, Sub-Contracts/Procurement.
External: Customers, Partners, JV consortiums, Subcontractors & Suppliers as necessary.
Key Skills & Experience:
Extensive experience in bidding and contract management, including negotiating complex and novel contracts across diverse project environments.
Experienced in evaluating complex risk scenarios and effectively communicating mitigation strategies to support sound decision-making.
Demonstrates solid business and commercial awareness, with the ability to think creatively, anticipate needs, and align actions with broader strategic goals.
Proven ability to communicate effectively, influence stakeholders, and convey complex information clearly across varying levels of an organisation.
Maintains tenacity and focus under pressure, especially during high-intensity bid periods, with a consistent track record of translating strategy into practical, value-driven solutions.
