Summary

A well-regarded and inclusive 11–18 secondary school and sixth form in St Helens is seeking a passionate and skilled Teacher of Science to join its thriving Science department. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a forward-thinking school that prioritises academic excellence, student wellbeing, and professional development.

The successful candidate will be joining a dedicated and supportive department within a school that has been recognised for its strong curriculum, high standards, and positive learning culture. There is scope to teach across all Science disciplines at KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to teach KS5 depending on experience and specialism.

In a Teaching role, classroom presence and management are important, and a good level of communication is vital to success of this role. Planning, prepping and marking will be expecting as a science teacher so is ideally something you should have experience in. Most importantly you should be completely confident in your abilities to conduct a lesson utilising your subject knowledge with the ability to adapt your lessons to the student’s ability.

The successful Science Teacher will have:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Be able to teach Science confidently across KS3 and KS4 (and ideally have experience or interest in teaching KS5)
• Be passionate about science education and inspiring curiosity in young learners
• Be committed to delivering high-quality lessons and achieving strong outcomes for all students
• Be a reflective practitioner, committed to continuous professional growth
• Be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school through clubs, enrichment, and intervention work
