Sales Engineer | Great Barr, Birmingham | Full Time | £27,500 per annum
Our client was established in 1870 and has a long standing, widely regarded reputation in the manufacture of power transmission components. Based at their factory in Great Barr, Birmingham, the company has an annual turnover of £5m, long-serving staff of 60, and a global customer base. With this strong foundation, the business is now focused on growth and development.
They are currently seeking a Sales Engineer to join their Sales department. The role will involve handling incoming sales enquiries from customers and building close relationships with them in dealing with their requirements, and producing accurate and competitive quotes for the range of products offered by the company.
Are you the right person for the job?
• Experience working with bespoke computer systems
• Understanding the company product range and/or the wider power transmission sector
• Good knowledge of typical customer types and their commercial needs
• Strong communication skills at all levels
• Professional and courteous manner with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
• Excellent telephone manner and PC literacy
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook
• Experience with Zoho software is an advantage
• Flexible and reliable with a strong work ethic
• Determined, adaptable, and able to embrace change with a positive attitude
What will your role look like?
• Responding to sales enquiries via phone and email
• Building and maintaining strong customer relationships
• Producing accurate and competitive quotations
• Providing up-to-date information on stock, availability, and pricing
• Entering and tracking all enquiries and quotes on the system daily
• Liaising with key suppliers for products outside of in-house manufacture
• Accurately entering and progressing sales orders
• Proactively updating customers on order progress, delivery changes, or delays
• Working closely with internal sales, technical, and production teams
• Communicating market and competitor activity
• Contributing to increasing order intake and overall sales
• Following company procedures, quality standards, and policies
