Summary

About the role:

Lakeside Arts is recruiting for a Duty Manager to join our busy and dynamic Front of House team to manage public events and oversee our gallery spaces, lead teams of ushers and invigilators, assist in the installation of exhibitions, and ensure the successful delivery of Lakeside’s own diverse programme of professional work as well as other private hire events.

Lakeside Arts is the University of Nottingham's public arts provision with a year-round programme of exhibitions, live performances, festivals, workshops, talks and lectures open to everyone, including University staff, students and members of the public. Based in the beautiful surroundings of Highfields and University Park, Lakeside Arts has two popular cafes and a shop including crafts by local and national makers. The programme attracts over 200,000 visitors annually not including café visitors: www.lakesidearts.org.uk

Managed by Lakeside’s Front of House Manager, you will collaborate with a broad range of colleagues across the organisation to provide effective and professional customer service and public safety, deal appropriately with incoming enquiries and feedback, be responsible for the safe and efficient running of publicly-open facilities across Lakeside’s venues, and provide administrative support for customer-facing operations across Lakeside.

Successful applicants will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; be able work both as part of a team and to lead – presenting information, acting on their own initiative, making decisions, and being responsible for solving problems in high-pressure situations; have an interest in and enthusiasm for arts, heritage and culture; and have experience of managing live events and/or public facilities.

This is a permanent, part-time position requiring flexible working across variable hours, including daytime and evening shifts on both weekdays and weekends as necessary. The position is contracted at 20 hours per week, although actual hours required may be higher or lower in any given week. Any variation in hours is balanced out as time off in lieu, with all rotas arranged and agreed by the team in advance.
