Summary


To support the Director and Deputy Director of Site Operations and Head of Nursing in the management and co-ordination of the Site Nurse Practitioner service and Clinical Response Team, ensuring that all aspects of the service provided meet the objectives established for this team at all times.

This includes ensuring that there is comprehensive cross-site service provision, and responsibility for the first line co-ordination of serious untoward and major incidents.

The post holder will assist in achieving the NHS Plan targets via the bed management role of the SNP service.

This role provides senior clinical and managerial leadership across hospital wards and departments, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and high quality patient care. A major responsibility is managing hospital operations both in hours and out of hours, including oversight of patient flow, bed management and emergency response.

The post holder chairs daily site meetings, monitors capacity, implements escalation strategies and supports NHS access targets by balancing emergency admissions with elective care. They also serve as the senior operational manager during out of hours, coordinating with clinical teams, executives and external partners to manage risks, respond to incidents and maintain service continuity. They are actively involved in staffing coordination, supporting digital bed management systems and guiding the Site Nurse Practitioner and Critical Response Teams.

In addition to operational duties, the role contributes to quality assurance, governance, staff development and service improvement. The post holder monitors and reports on clinical standards, supports incident reviews, participates in audits and training and helps shape new policies and strategic plans.

Ultimately, the role requires autonomy, advanced clinical judgment and strong leadership to maintain safe, efficient care while aligning with the Trust’s strategic and professional goals.
